7 Easy Ways to Free Up Space on an iPhone

easy ways to free up space on an iPhone

Owners of iPhone, iPads and other Apple devices often wonder how to free up space on these; it is no fun feeling the pinch of limited space as it makes the device run slower and slower with time. But you need not worry about this. There are many easy ways to free up space on an iPhone and we will describe these techniques in detail. Note that even if your iPhone shows a memory of 16 GB (for example), you cannot use all 16 GB of it. So the best thing to do is to free up the iPhone from time to time either manually or by using some automatic phone cleaners. This will ensure optimum performance and also enable you to download more stuff.

1. Regularly delete things you do not need

Thanks to applications like What’s App and other instant messenger services, most of us tend to get videos and other media files in large numbers on a day-to-day basis. Apple devices also sync your devices so you end up having hundreds of images, videos and even music files that quickly eat up your device’s storage space. So, you must regularly transfer your files from your iPhone and sync them with your personal computer. The computer can act as a temporary backup until you can save it on another drive; but in the meantime, you can easily delete the files from the phone and free up space on it.

2. Mind the music

Music files do take up quite a bit of space and most of us do not really need all of these files on our iPhone. You will do yourself and your device a huge favor by removing the unwanted music files. If needed, you could readily use iTunes home sharing to synch your music. Go in for applications that allow you to stream live music so that you need not copy and keep bulky files on your iPhone.

3. Keep a track of storage

Keep a track of what is eating into your iPhone storage. You can do so by going to the Settings tab and clicking on General. Click on Usage and check the applications and programs along with their individual available memory and storage used. Scrolling down you can then see how much space each app is taking. You can then consider removing an application that has particularly hefty storage needs.

4. Delete games

Deleting games and unused apps is another of the easy ways to free up space on the iPhone. Many times, we have already beaten a particular game and no longer play it. There is no point keeping it on the iPhone in such a case, is there? You can easily remove these old games and apps and free up a lot of space for the new ones. If you are worried that you won’t be able to re-download a deleted app, think again! Every application on the iOS is yours to download in the future as it is not gone forever. Also, you can always revisit the App Store to re-download things you might need again. You can even sync the application through iTunes on your Macintosh or PC.

5. Delete old videos

Remove all videos you have watched regularly since a single video file can actually free up nearly 500 MB to 1GB of space- which is a lot! If you diligently remove every video, movie or video podcast you have already watched, you can easily free up a lot of space on your iPhone and never face any memory problems. If you wish to watch it again later, simply re-download it.

6. Remove voice files

Voice recorder apps are great fun to record things like your shopping memos and lists. But they can end up clogging up your iPhone with time. So make sure you back up all these files from time to time and delete the recordings from your phone.

7. Use iPhone cleaning apps

All of the above were some of the easy ways to free up space on an iPhone manually. You can also use iPhone cleaning applications like CisDem iPhone cleaner. These applications are very safe and easy ways to clean up space on iPhone. They analyze the phone and remove cache and temp files. Users who have used this application have freed up space of nearly 1 GB by targeting large and unwanted files.

We hope these tips and easy ways to free up space on your iPhone help you out. By freeing up space you will certainly notice faster speeds and improved performance of your device.
