Hiccups are a great conversation starter: ask a room full of people how to get rid of hiccups and chances are that you will get at least a hundred different remedies. Did you know that there is a Guinness Book of World Record for longest running hiccups? A man named Charles Osborne started hiccuping in 1922 which ended only with his death in 1990! No one wants that now! Thankfully, the following easy ways can cure hiccups in most cases:

9. Deep breathing exercises
There are many deep breathing exercises which can put a stop to those annoying hiccups. Here is an easy one called the alternate nostril breathing exercise:
- Alternate nostril breathing- Sit comfortably. Place your index and middle fingers of your right hand on your forehead in between the eyebrows. Next, place the thumb of the right hand on the right nostril and ring finger of the right hand on the left nostril. Start by deeply inhaling the air. Now release the breath through the left nostril by releasing pressure of the ring finger. At this time, the thumb should firmly press and close the right nostril. Once all breath is released, inhale through the right nostril and breathe out through the left nostril by releasing pressure of the thumb. At this point, the ring finger should firmly press the left nostril keeping it closed. Repeat this alternate breathing technique until the hiccups stop.
