Many people color their hair to hide grays or simply when they want a new look. However, the one thing most people hate is getting the hair dye off hairline. Dried hair dye leaves unsightly marks on the ears, hairline, scalp, neck and even the hands and nails. So today we will study some easy hacks to remove hair dye from hairline and skin.
1. Use oil or petroleum jelly before you color
This is an easy hack to prevent hair dye from leaving stains in unwanted areas. Apply coconut or olive oil around the hairline, on the ears and the neck just below where the hair starts and where you might get the dye on the skin accidentally while coloring the hair. Leave the oil on for the entre duration while your color sets in. Once you wash your hair, also wash off the oil or petroleum jelly. This will prevent the dye from sticking to the skin and leaving permanent marks. An oily layer will also make it easier for you to wash away the dye quickly.
2. Use gloves to protect the nails
The best way to prevent hair dye from getting on your hands, nails or acrylic nails, use gloves while coloring. You can also use saran wrap or plastic bags in case you do not have gloves.
3. Use hairspray
Hairspray is a great remedy to remove hair dye off hairline, nails and scalp. Spray a bit of the product on the hands or skin and gently massage it into the stained areas. Wipe it off. This will remove the color quickly and make it very easy for you to wash off the color.
4. Use nail-paint varnish remover
Use the nail paint remover on the neck, ears or skin ear the hairline to remove dried hair dye stains. Be careful not to get the product in your eyes.
5. Undiluted shampoo
Immediately apply undiluted shampoo to the hair dye stains near hairline and other affected areas using a cotton swab. The stains will come off very easily.
6. Mixture of lemon juice and baking soda
Mix lemon juice and baking soda in equal parts and apply the mixture to stained skin. Lemon juice lightens the color whereas baking soda removes tough, dried hair dye stains completely. Use this mixture for removing stains from acrylic nails as well. You can also soak your nails in this mixture for a few minutes to remove hair dye from under the nails.
7. Use vinegar
Mix a bit of white vinegar (or you may use apple cider vinegar) with toothpaste and hair spray. Scrub the stained skin gently with this mixture to remove unwanted hair dye stains from nails, skin near hairline or scalp.
8. Toothpaste
Scrub the stain with a bit of toothpaste (non gel variety only) using an old toothbrush. The unwanted hair color stains will easily come off with this hack.
9. Dishwashing soap
Next time you get unwanted hair dye stains on your hairline or neck, reach for your Dawn dishwashing soap. Add a bit of baking soda to it and use the mixture to rub the stain. The unwanted hair dye can easily be removed using this remedy.
10. Acetone
To remove hair dye from nails or acrylic nails, use acetone nail polish remover. Dab the stain with the acetone using cotton wool. Rub the stain a few times. The stain will lighten considerably. If it does not, then the particular brand of hair dye may be impervious to acetone.
11. Epsom salts
Mix some Epsom salt with baking soda and water. Use an old toothbrush to scrub this paste on the stained areas of your skin. Scrub gently for a few minutes until the stain comes off.
12. Essential oils
Dab some undiluted Lavender essential oil on the skin to remove hair color from hairline. Wipe off with cotton ball. You can also use Lemon essential oil for removing hair dye off nails, or acrylic nails.
