Many women do not grow their hair long owing to split ends. Split hair indicates a weak hair structure and most stylists advise cutting the hair off every few months in order to prevent them. However, even if you chose to remove split ends without cutting it, the ends are eventually going to fall off or snap off. In either case you are going to lose the length. So today we will be taking a look at some natural and easy ways to remove split ends yourself.

1. Nettle tea
This is a great remedy for strengthening the hair naturally. Use nettle tea as a final rinse post shampooing. It will help condition the hair and also strengthen it to prevent split ends. You need to use this remedy regularly to ensure long term effects.
2. Olive oil
Olive oil massage is one of the best split ends home remedies. Massage warm olive oil in the hair and scalp focusing on the ends. Leave it on for about an hour or, if possible, overnight. Wash off with a mild shampoo. Do this before each hair wash to see results. Also, after shampoo and conditioning your hair massage a tiny amount of olive oil onto the ends of the hair. Do not use too much as it will make your hair greasy. A tiny bit is all you need to keep split ends, fly-away and frizzy hair at bay.
3. Coconut oil
Damage is a common split ends cause. To treat damaged hair, massage the hair ends with coconut oil. Mix warm coconut oil with Sweet Almond oil and use the mixture all over the ends of the hair, preferably at bed time. This will strengthen the hair shaft and prevent splitting. Wash off with warm water and mild shampoo the next morning.
4. Egg yolk
This is another split ends treatment to get rid of splits without cutting the hair. Yolk contains protein which strengthens dull, dry and damaged hair. Massage whisked egg yolk all over the hair and particularly on the ends of the hair. Wash off with cold water and a scented shampoo to remove the egg smell. (You can also add the juice from half a lemon to the yolk to reduce odor of egg.) Never use hot water when using this split ends home remedy.
Instead of egg yolk, massage mayonnaise in your hair and leave it for an hour at least. This will condition the hair and also give it a shine. Regular use will help prevent split ends in natural hair.
6. Apple cider vinegar
Take a teaspoon/tablespoon of raw organic apple cider vinegar everyday to strengthen hair and add a shine to it. Also add some to your final rinse water after using shampoo and conditioner. This will reduce further damage and splitting.
7. Cut back on washing and heat treatment
Over-washing the hair is a common split ends cause. Avoid washing your hair more than twice a week, as far as possible. If you sweat heavily or workout, use a dry shampoo in between shampooing to keep the hair clean. Also reduce the use of dryers, straighteners and other heat-based tools as they tend to weaken hair and damage its structure.
8. Take hair strengthening supplements
Hair strengthening supplements help give you thicker hair and prevent splitting. Look for supplements with silicon and biotin. Also take calcium, vitamin D and B complex. A good multivitamin supplement will usually provide you with your recommended dietary allowance of hair strengthening nutrients. Eat a protein rich diet.
